  1. Technology allows the students to incorporate higher-order thinking and reasoning skills through authentic learning activities. Through technology, students are given the opportunity to creatively explore real-world problems and gain knowledge and experiences that will hopefully impact their learning for a lifetime.

  2. Using technology can encourage students to provide feedback and input information in ways many are already comfortable with. Most are already using it and feel good about their skills. Presenting students with different and newer types of technology will expose them to different avenues for real world problem solving. Students will be using 21st Century skills to complete projects and collaborate with peers. Lessons will need to be rigorous to keep student engagement and promote student performance. Problem based learning using technology will enhance that.

  3. Using technology allows students to buy into the project and allows them to show their learning and how they see the topic. It also gives them them the ability to take a concept and relate it to their prior knowledge and how it relates to the real world and solving real world problems. It can also be a learning tool that the students can use to teach other students their findings.

  4. I think that using technology is a wonderful way for students to get the experience they need to be productive individuals in our society. Bringing in real world situations for students to explore excites them and gives them true buy-in. I also feel that having students create publications to display their learning enhances their educational experience.

  6. Technology allows students an alternative and creative way to share their ideas and learning with others. What a wonderful way for students to express their learning using alternative methods than paper and pencil. It also gives teachers a variety of ways to assess student learning.

  8. I think that this new technology will be detrimental to Kevin's ability to maintain his numerous usernames and passwords.

As for myself, I am afraid that I might develop a serious case of carpal tunnel.

One final thought...has anyone considered that we are providing budding young hackers with the skills to take down this country?

  17. Blog [verb]: Stands for "Beginning Loser Opens Gmail" Who knew that it would take an act of COCSD Congress to get us all open!

The assessment for student learning knows no boundaries. I'm planning on using technology for immediate feedback to assess students' understanding of concepts DURING and AFTER lessons. Their ipads will replace their whiteboards: from slates, to paper, to whiteboards, to ipads. WOW!

  19. It has sparked a whole new way to turn learning to student centered with a rubric. Watching students discovering what we want but through their own. As the day progressed ideas grew and blossomed into ways to use this wonderful technology

  20. Change is constant, and technology readily adapts to change immediately. Generally, students are very familiar with computers and teaching is enhanced using technology. Students love using technology and computers for learning...

  21. Using technology will allow for more student engagement and enhance student knowledge even in the younger grades.

  22. Not all technology is beneficial for student learning. If it is too complicated or too easy then students really are not learning anything. With middle school students they get bored quickly, so technology (the right tech) can keep their attention longer hopefully increasing their learning. Of course we are in the tech age and these students need to know how to do more then just text (usually with incorrect spelling or modified text). Using tech in the classroom gets them ready for their future.
As far as assessment goes, students like to see the results immediately. There are many tech programs that allow students to assess and then get their results.
I think that this also provides a personal sense of satisfaction. So many students are not very proud of their work but having tech in the classroom encourages self-reflection before they post for all to see.
